Am doing a DBS eluteion and in it i will have to add PBS and Tween and Sodium azide. Does sodium azide have any toxicity in it. and what measures of precaution should i take.
Wow, yes it indeed has toxicity. First, for simple issues like this, you are much better off looking at Wikipedia first. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_azide There are a lot of other concerns as well, especially in disposal and making sure it doesn't combine with other metals to give more explosive compounds. You could also look at a chemical company's site since they need to have the material safety data sheets for every compound. Honestly, research gate is not the first place you should look.
I agree with Joseph Merola , sodium azide is toxic, it is often used for forming primary explosives when mixed with lead nitrate,. Hence do not dispose of down sinks as lead azide can form in traps and cause incidents to maintenance staff.
