Please bear in mind when to come to answer the question that knowledge management processes contains knowledge discovery, capturing, sharing, and applying such knowledge. Thus, such scrolling the mouse might benefit you so much. What do you think?
Your interesting question can be asked another way: Do you derive research material for writing books and articles in RG? Each respondent may answer something different, but I in the humanities am compelled to respond, "Not yet." Therefore I would have to answer "Yes" to your original question as posed.
"Researches" - there is no such word in the English language. The plural of research is still research. Instead of scrolling, judicious use of a spell checker is highly recommended. Only scroll as much as is necessary to obtain the relevant information. Other input devices can be utilised such as a tracker ball to avoid RSI.
Actually, Tons of research Ideas in my head coming from our RG discussions. But in the same time, as kamal said, my participation in RG distract me from writing.
I'm sure you can feel the sense of having many things to do, but no time.
Yes, it does. At the same time, we should bear in mind that scrolling the mouse in RG might benefit us so much and help obtaining a lot of information through RG publications, questions, and answers.
RG To me is just one research tool and it does not require much time to participate. If it behaves like a distraction to engage in RG, one should spend less time on it.
Occasionally I get caught up in a discussion when I "should" be doing something else, but I find this forum far more beneficial than distracting. In the first place, it provides a place to republish my papers on the web; since much of my work over the last three decades was published in relatively obscure journals and editorial projects, this is important to me. Secondly, it lets me keep up with new publications in a variety of fields and topics, providing access that at times would not be available to me. Finally, conversations with specialists around the world are permitting me to delve into new areas of inquiry, finding sources and ideas, and getting expert criticism on my thoughts before including them in my work.
Yes, it does dear @Ra'ed! Scrolling up and down of my mouse in RG distract me from many duties! One should balance the time spent on social network, especially RG!
Yes, although I am an Emeritus, RG distract me from other activities. Research, writing books, etc. The system of RG, Score, upvotes, etc. tries to make us addicted to RG. Thee responsible of RG should make RG more pleasurable and less addictive and stressful. It seems that there is nobody there!!!
Yes, participation in RG distract me a little from writing my manuscripts and others. Simultaneously, it helps a lot. Participation balances the things. Further, it enhances the social quotient.
YES sometimes, however I am such a person can do multitask at the same time
(Simultaneously). I get rest from doing one task continuously. Interval work to me is more productive than continuous one on the same issue. That's me...In the mean time I can say we all are addicted as Kamal mentioned.
Krishnan's comment brings out an important aspect of ResearchGate, one that has been criticized on other question pages. This forum's policy of lowering scores for inactivity can be interpreted as a sort of "punishment" for not chatting with fellow members. I would like to believe that the score is irrelevant, but since it is a sort of ranking, and the number appears next to our names and images, it becomes impossible to ignore it. This particular policy may indeed have a negative effect on scientific productivity, motivating members to chat rather than write for publication. On the other hand, a score will also increase for publishing our work, and registering or uploading it to this website, so the choice is still our own.
I discover there are more to discover; I capture what have been discussed on the forum; I share what I have experienced, learned and studied; I apply all those to my work.
While being at RG which is the matter of free will, do you worry to miss something, friend's discussion, paper, new follower, new thread....? Massive scrolling of our mouses!
Dear @Juehui, there is no application available, neither for iOS, nor for Android. But, there is research network Mendeley which has its application developped for smart devices! I do hope that RG experts do develop such applications!
