Universities should encourage researches in industry as a part of collaboration between universities and industry.

In our university we have a periodically updated and approved research agenda wherein all our researches should be aligned in order to get funding. We are, however, still free to undertake any research of our interest but without university fund if not aligned with the university research agenda. 

Universities should encourage researches in industry as a part of collaboration between universities and industry. 

I feel it is the job the government look after this issue. Researchers in poor countries or in the countries with corrupted government are in great loss.

To the best of my knowledge, I've never came across a university that has a particular system to update researchers with the current issues apart from encouraging researchers to apply for grants that have been announced by fund bodies. However, the lack of what has been done in academia and practice is yet lags in many academic disciplines. the two different environments (i.e. academia and practice) need to be more communicated and academic system should improve the communication process of academics towards their potential stakeholders. Also, creating a communication group that helps to keep academia up to date with real-world issues.  

Yes, Universities/Institutions can conduct research workshops for teachers and researchers.

In our University, such workshops are conducted by Academic Staff College/ HRD Centre.

All the research which are funded by Government, must be aproved by Universities, as they appear as legal entity - Research Institution in contract. So, some of the research proposals pass the first step at the University, bufore they were submitted for funding. Some do not pass. Universities give priorities to new emerging fields.

Regarding industry, the most usuall way is that researcher bring a job to University for approval, and then researcher start industry research based on contract between University and Company. Usually, University do not interfere to much in such type of research, but good portion of money goes to University!

off course with research programs and project to be guided by the university or research centers funded by GOV or University. the variety of projects and research area, expand the dimension of research conducted by the departments members. on the other hand, make a culture of collaboration between the members of department and others department    

During my time in IT Sligo the centre for innovation supported research and development not only by its students but outside companies developing different products concepts or technology based advancementwithin their own particular field. This has benefitted not only the organisation not also the college as it allows for experiential learning to take place and collaboration  on a project to assist in solving problems with a products development.

Collaboration and interaction with industry is important.

 If we are talking about the TQM system at any well-established university then it is a must to provide its staff with broad guidelines for publishing. This should highlight the best practices of all related aspects whether we are talking about the collaboration process, the Journals accredited for the purpose of promotion, etc.. However, I'm totally against imposing any restraint on the researcher or research team such as determine the research area or the people or parties to collaborate with or even going after the core of the research process by imposing the methods or techniques the researcher has to use due to any specific regulations or political reasons as in the politics and religious studies.   

I think making use of collaboration between the universities and industries can be made successful if allied and contemporary issues are dealt with specifically.

In the case of social sciences the departments dealing with social sciences can be asked to conduct research on problems being faced by the society and the universities can find effective solutions. Funding can be arranged as per the need of research in that field.

The empirical lessons in this research lead to some obvious policy conclusions.

They include:

1. Keep the ship steady. Policymakers need to ensure a predictable, stable environment of funding and regulation for long-term strategic partnerships to thrive.

2. Give universities the autonomy to operate effectively, and form partnerships. The best people to decide a university’s strategy are its own board and faculty heads, not government ministries. Without freedom to operate – with appropriate checks and balances – they cannot form effective partnerships.

3. Reward activist, collaborative universities – and encourage more to be that way. Funding incentives work: government policy should reward, or at least not discourage, universities and companies that form strong partnerships. New government programmes, such as proposed by the EU and some national governments, should entice others to take the same step.

4. Help universities strive for excellence. Companies want to work with the best  and so Europe must take care always to feed and promote its best universities, in order that more job-creating partnerships can be formed...."
