Dear researchers!

A recent preprint claims that novel coronavirus, named as SARS-CoV-2, potentially produces it's consequences, even respiratory ones, by attacking the hemoglobin and capturing the porphyrin. This attack results in reduced ability of RBCs to carry respiratory gasses and inhibition of heme anabolic pathways.

these findings raise the possibility of SARS-CoV-2 to be a hematologic virus that can affect several organs through circulation.

The study is carried out on the basis of bioinformatics and involves conserved domain analysis, homology modeling, and molecular docking. As stated by the authors, it's obvious that further laboratory investigation is needed to confirm this in-silico study's findings.

How much reliable do you think this claim is?

How do you evaluate this claim, based on other researchs or clinical findings?

If true, how can these findings affect future strategies to combat COVID-19?

I hope these questions would result in beneficial discussion among researchers.

Best regards.
