Does Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty give superior pain free shoulder function than the Rotator cuff repair in medium/ large cuff tears in elders?

Nowadays, a trend is evolving to perform reverse total shoulder arthroplasty in medium/ large cuff tears in elderly. I feel reverse shoulder arthroplasty should be reserved for failed rotator cuff repair or rotator cuff arthropathy.
