you are asking a key question in the presence of extreme Islam that we see, something that gives many people pause whenever anything religious is brought up. Coming (formerly) from an evangelical Christian environment, I have seen lesser forms of rigidity in that realm. There are, of course, people who are deeply religious, spiritual, and/or ethical, and such would see their positions as central to their character, work, and relationships. A careful examination would be indicated. Note also that there is a distinct anti-religious attitude to contend with.

this is an interesting topic to discuss. indeed, one's religious orientation would somehow affect one's choice of career or job. There are various career theories postulating that our traits (personality, values) would influence what we want as a job.
