Sorry but I am not an expert on how reducing conditions specifically affect antibody quality other than it will (adversely). Not necessary the culture medium through upstream (harvest) but conditions encountered during early DSP.
ORP of culture medium change drastically during cultivation. Therefore, it is advised to determine/adjust the initial ORP of a media before inoculation. Wiles and Smith (1969) etc. use a N2/CO2 mixture method to lower ORP before inoculation of cells. This N2 treatment is called poising, and it can prevent media components from oxidation (Mohberg and Johnson 1863). Also, Hwang and Sinskey demonstrate that ORP is an excellent indictor for cell growth.
