Earlier US foreign policy has mainly been based on supporting countries based on  indirect fundamentalism (Pak and Afghan on Islam, Israel on Judaism etc) even as its strategic interests could be served by other means. However, Obama in his visit told people of India about the similarity between Indian and American culture and he wants India to be a friend that is diverse and based on equality and cohabitation of cultures. Does it show a paradigm shift in US foreign policy basis or just a president's human face at the end of his term?
