After the recent publication of a new paper by the same group (Yadav et al 2014), in which they failed to replicate the findings in rats achieved in this Science 2009 paper, renewed interest has come in this earlier publication. It seems that the authors of the Science paper have made use of an incorrect statistical technique in one figure (Fig 4), a mistake that, if confirmed, completely invalidates the results obtained in that figure, and compromises its conclusions.

The authors report in the text that each group for that experiment was composed of 4 animals, and yet the error bars representing SEM are very small (
