This might happen. In my opinion, it is faster to get approved compared to any drug designed from scratch. This include the drugs that are not antiviral, however their mechanism of action highlight them as a good candidates. Also drugs that passed clinical trials and shown their safety, but did not authorized by FDA yet, they might find their way.
