we are working with crystalline samples of compounds unstable in air. To keep preselected crystals for synchrotrons we use dewars filled with liquid N2. The crystals should be mounted ion he holders compatible with SPINE standard. To use these for measurements at He temperatures needs perhaps some adaptation, as the goniometer head is heated and therefore the sample holder should have good heat condauctivit to avoid air to freeze on the sample holdery. But if I have massive metal holder to avoid problems at He measurement, I should have problem with placing crystals in liquid N2 because of vigorous boiling of N2 at cooling of the metal holder.

Did anyone have similar problem? I would also appreciate any advise/information on sample holders for the measurements of crystals at He temperatures? Any cormercial products?
