Perhaps I'm confused as to the definition of social dividend, but the only examples I know of (i.e., Alaska) is allocated based on the number of people. I'm at a loss on how market efficiency plays a role in distribution.

The market is the institution by which the net wealth of the community is divided. Consumers buy goods and services, thus distributing wealth among themselves and their suppliers (merchants); producers sell their products in a market and purchase their raw materials according to prices set by commodity markets like the Chicago Board of Trade and the New York Mercantile Exchange; employees sell and employers buy in a job market that cannot be found on Wall Street but everyone knows about. All of these markets require overhead, which can be measured in money, energy, and/or the time of our lives. Many people leave their homes to go to work; but, all that they work at is the attempt to get more goods, money, real wealth out of whatever is produced or is otherwise available for their employers and, by extension, for themselves. Consider salespeople, promoters, marketers, advertising workers, hustlers, wheelers and dealers. Consider bankers, brokers, investors, venture capitalists, the masters of the universe. Whatever these people take - whether they consume it or not - plus whatever it takes to get it, e. g., copying machines, cell, phones, cars, airplanes, etc. reduces the net amount of real wealth available to those who produce it. The efficiency in percent is the total wealth created and/or extracted from the Earth, T, minus the overhead, O, over T and that ratio multiplied by 100.

i think that current  markets aren't very optimal.moreover to frictions and costs that you hinted, there are other problems with markets. MICHAEL J. SANDEL from Harvard has a good book named What Money Can’t Buy. in this book, he critique markets from a moral view. and all of his claim are thinkable.

but we must know that markets already are good place for exchange and we haven't better alternative. I think that change in market concept will be evolutionary rather than revolutionary.
