In fact that, it's hard to make a statistic how many people who can speak Hmong Do language ('cause you can't know the number of the other ethnic groups who can speak Hmong Do). However, if only about the population of Hmong Do in Vietnam, it's 1,068,189 people (The census 2009 - GENERAL STATISTICS OFFICE of VIET NAM)

I think Hmong Do is a subgroup of Mông. They're found in this location: Ha Giang province, Dong Van and Meo Vae districts; Lao Cai Province, Bac Ha district.
In fact that, when we talk about "Mông" in Vietnam, it's presented for Hmong people. In other country, they have another name such as Miáo (Chinese) or Maew (Thai). I'm not sure whether Hmong Do is a subgroup of H'Mong or refer to H'mong. However, if you are know that they are live in Ha Giang, Lao Cai and Bac Ha province, Dong Van and Meo Vae district (which province?), then you can look up on the file I gave you.
