Does anyone know the existence of any studies treating of paper journaling vs digital-based journaling mediums?

Without a doubt, files saved in an encrypted format are far more secure than paper journals secured by flimsy locks, or no locks at all. It seems reasonable to question whether writers would be more forthcoming in their entries knowing that their entries were encrypted.
