En Ilíada 16.739-742 se describe cómo muere el auriga de Héctor, Cebriones, cuando un piedrazo en la frente hace que los ojos le salten de las cuencas y caigan en el suelo delante de sus propios pies. Me gustaría saber si alguien conoce algún otro caso, fundamentalmente en fuentes antiguas o medievales, de este tipo de evulsión completa de los ojos o al menos de un ojo por un golpe. Oedipism is a term used to describe self inflicted autoenucleation of the eye. The term is derived from Greek mythology after the Theban king Oedipus,' who enucleated his own eyes to cleanse himself of mortal sin. It is the most extreme form of ocular self-mutilation

Thank you, Sunny. Indeed, autoenucleation is the most common form of complete evulsion still today. However, as noted, I am studying a case of traumatic evulsion, which is much more infrequent. To clarify, my question would be if, given the characteristics of ancient and medieval battles, there are actual testimonies of such an injury in credible sources (or at least different than Homer), since that would go a long way towards showing that the description in the Iliad may be not simply the product of the poet's imagination.
