Dear colleagues,

I have some fish samples homogenized in PBS buffer (pH = 7.4) and I'm wondering if I can use them for fatty acid profiling? I know normally one should use organic solvents for lipid extraction, but do you know if it would work to use these samples?

Or maybe it would be better to use the frozen sample pellets (after homogenizing the samples in PBS, I centrifuge them, take the liquid part out - which is what I use for my other analyses - and I also store the pellets just in case). So, could I use the pellets?

What would you suggest?

Thanks.
