I am collaborating with another lab that was supposed to prepare a nutrient rich media for me, but they have been unresponsive. I have some E. coli and some Lima Bean Agar plates laying around, and was wondering if I could use this agar. The agar I use for my experiment is not especially important. I am however, pressed for time.
The pH is a bit low for E. coli. However E. coli isn't particularly picky when it comes to nutrients - depending on the strain of course. Why don't you just try?

Lima bean agar is basically used for culture of isolates of P. phaseoli. Only Escherichia coli MRE 600 can be grown on this medium because it shows some selectivity, in rest of the cases it will remain unresponsive. It is used for inoculation and virulence assessment.
