LabVIEW is a strange choice for this task.
Unless you have been forced to use this language, I would suggest any other 'conventional' language (C, Python with numpy, FORTRAN, etc.)
However, if you *must* use LabVIEW then I would implement a Newton-Raphson inside a While loop.

You can use math script in labview to program method for finding the root. The math script take input and and manipulation on them as any scripting language and then return the output required
There are some basic lectures, about 6 hours, teaching how to use LabVIEW. Contact with the agent of National Instruments Co. LabVIEW programing, in my opinion, is a new generation of computer language, breaking down the barrier of conventional computer programming like C++, Java, etc. Can be easily learned and used by medical personnel. There is a book in electronic version, named "LabVIEW for EveryOne", U may look for that book and try to learn the new computer language with all graphic interface. No line commands!!! Wish u enjoy LabVIEW.
The best way is to work with Matlab instead of labview. Mathscript is easy to use with labview as well but u need to have Matlab installed. You can just search for examples of you requirement with labview in google and you can find many examples. Labview being a graphical programming is easy to learn, you just need to spend sometime learning from the examples.
