The 'potency' of cerambycid lures varies considerably.  With kairomones its usually very difficult to find the highest dose in dose response experiments. Of course kairomones will tend to be 'weak' and broad spectrum. High release ethanol is typically used at 250mg/day of alpha-pinene or other mono terpenes used at 1-3 grams per day release rates. To get better trap captures and more specific trap captures the addition of pheromones typically helps. So far the male produced compounds are generally weak aggregation signals for both sexes, typically these used at doses in the  2-10 mg/day. The female produced compounds attract mostly males and these are active in the microgram per day range.

'Pop bottle' traps like the one described by Masoud Latifian are cheap and easy to build as long as your time is not worth much and you only need a few. These traps do not store very well nor do they have much capacity. Large cerambycids like Monochamus or Prionids probably aren't retained very well as it is such a small reservoir. These traps will likely need to be serviced very frequently. The red trap coloration is useful for coffee berry borer and possibly other insects. There is recent evidence that green and perhaps purple are good colors for some temperate forest dwelling cerambycids. The larger cerambycids are best retained in flight intercept traps treated with fluon, a material that seems to make the beetles 'loose their footing'.

Semiochemical trapping follows the three rules of real estate: location, location and location. Its critical to have your traps at the 'right' place at the right time. All this on top of using an appropriate lure.

I have no specific information about Plagiohammus sp. I can tell you there are a suite of relatively new compounds that are proving very useful for many species of cerambycids. Since these compounds have only been widely available for a few years there are many ecosystems which have never been surveyed. There are several hundred cerambycid species known which respond to: monochamol, fuscumol, fuscumole acetate, hexane- 2,3-ketoalcohols, hexane-2,3-diols, octane-2,3-ketoalcohols, methylbutanol,4-heptyloxy butanol, 4-heptyloxybutanal, E,E-alpha-farnesene.  We have all of these compounds and many other lures available in field ready controlled release devices and several varieties of traps. Most lures last for 60-90 days.  Synergy would be happy to assist your trapping efforts.

Dear colleague, it depends on ecology and behavior of the group you want to collect. I am not familiar with ecology of Plagiohammus, but what I would recommend are suitable traps - pheromone, flight interception, nectar etc.

A rectangular lateral opening (30x15 cm) was made in each bottle to allow the entrance of adult Cerambycidae. The bottles were painted with red oil paint and attached to coffee plants with number 12 galvanized wire at 1.5-m height above the ground (Fernández & Cordero, 2005). A 10-mL glass flask containing an attractant-based bait was fixed inside the trap (Figure 1). The flasks were closed with a rubber lid with two perforations, through which two stainless steel bands (1.2-mm diameter x 10-mm long) were inserted for attractant release. The attractant was composed of a 1:3 mixture of ethanol and methanol (Vetec, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), with 1% benzaldehyde (volatile disperser agent). Mixtures of alcohols have been used as attractants for Cerambycidae (Brockerhoff et al., 2006). The bottle lid was used to close the trap bottom, so that the trap held 120 mL of water containing 5% neutral soap for capturing adult Cerambycidae

At ICE 2016 In Orlando group of researchers from China presented results of their experiments of catching one species of long horn beetle on dark-light traps, I was assumed by their results, they caught  72 tonnes of beetles. Have you ever heared about something  equal  when using odorants??

Black lights are not  species specific, they catch all the families and species of nocturnal insects Including non-target species, making them lethal traps very destructive affecting insect biodiversity. I bet those 72 tonnes of Cerambycidaes include the weight of other insects.

Beetles was in the amount of slightly more than 72 tons, but I missed one important point - it was the result of 3 years, so I lied to your expectations three times, I`m sorry. However, even 24 tons is also impressive results!

Dear Luis Miguel Constantino, This is species Massicus raddei (Blessig). As I remember this group of researchers tested different lenghts of wave of black light before they found the most attractive. And I am sure that the black light traps are applicable only for longhorn beetles leading night lifestyle.

As per my vision first we have to understand the courtship behaviour of the adults. To understand whether male is attracting female or female is attracting male. Then using electroantennograph with GC we can identify the chemical responsible for attraction. By using this chemical attractant we can trap the insect. The selection of trap also important and it should be based on the courtship behavior study. Like Funnel, Delta, Crassvane trap. Then finally kairamone for selection of host plant material for egg laying and feeding.

We followed above steps for use of pheramone traps in coffee ecosystem for the management of arabica coffee white stem borer, Xylotrechus quadripes in India in collaboration Natioanl Resources Institute, UK.

My french is non-existant so I must answer in English. What an ingenious set of traps....excellent information in any language!

Ground dwelling insects present special trapping problems. Open style pitfall traps become wildlife feeding stations, where trapped insects get eaten by rodents, birds and other insectivores. A collegue of mine developed a wireworm trap which in essence was an above ground pitfall trap with an enclosed collection chamber. These traps are no longer in production but we happen to have a small inventory of these traps.  They do warp under high heat (+35C) but for cool environments they have been very useful. These are not something one can make out handy materials and need commercial production. I've included the original publication so that this group could see the design of a simple covered pitfall trap that sits just above the ground (no pit is necessary). These traps were designed for wireworms (click beetles) but can be easily modified to capture slightly larger beetles.  Of course with enough interest these could be modified and put back into commercial production.
