Its frustrating - but I heard that the beta version will be freely available by mid March...or you can partition your drive and run windows in parallel to use the current windows version although this really slows everything down considerably.
I have tried Parallel Desktop but it really slowed my Macbook pro down. I recommend anyone who would like to use Parallel Desktop should consider using BootCamp instead.
The beta version of NVivo for Mac is scheduled to release this March but I don't know whether it can be delayed again. I hope it will be released soon enough as my thesis is planned to be completed this July.
BTW, when I tried to find a good assisted software for qualitative analysis, I have found Dedoose and MAXQDA. Dedoose is web-based program, so we can upload our data to web and process our data on its web. It is pretty cool. But if someone who is following grounded theory may find it annoying because it does not allow them to code in vivo. MAXQDA is a good one, too. MAXQDA has already had a version for Mac. Although it is designed based on mix methods approach rather than grounded theory approach, it is a fine one to use, i think. Just some thoughts to share. Thanks a lot.
I agree with the previous comment: NVivo for Mac. I used NVivo to analyze interviews and observations for my PhD...I think that it was very useful to manage all my data: 92 interviews, observation notes, documents from the museum, images, etc.
I've been using HyperRESEARCH for the last few months on my macbook and have been pretty impressed with the program. It's fairly inexpensive compared to the more well-known software, and you don't have to pay future licensing fees. Furthermore it's a fairly simple program (which may be a downside for people who like extra bells and whistles), so it's easy to learn. I would recommend it for basic data analysis.
