I am working on CAM in diabetic neuropathy. I want to evaluate the physiological chain that results in improvements which is seen in the electrodiagnosis and symptoms of patients with diabetic neuropathy. So I need a biomarker that can describe our intervention mechanism of action.

Being interested in the thermoregulatory aspects of some acupoints on the one hand and heart rate variability (HRV) on the other hand to objectivate acupoint effects, I came across the following article:
The author concludes that small autonomic fibers are responsable for interdigital hyperthermia (>0,4°C) on plantar infrared thermography in the early diagnosis of diabetic neuropathy. Clinical examination, biochemical data, EMG, HRV & Ewing tests, an anamnestic inventory and thermography were combined, approaching a whole system research.
