In Brazil , there is a schedule of parameters that determine the need for actions of nurses and nursing technicians . These parameters are based on private sector activities in general . Here , there are no nurses or technicians who do anesthesia. It is the sole responsibility of the physician .
ASPAN (American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses) is the national society for PACU nursing. They provide tools and standards for nursing practice in the perioperative/postoperative setting. They provide tools for orientation, practice, as well as standards. I would start with them.
Definitely check with ASPAN, they have a set of standards for anaesthesia and post anaesthesia care, maybe try BARNA also. There is a conference in Copenhagen (9-12 September) this year on anaesthesia and PACU nurses. ICPAN www.icpan2015.dk/
