I am doing a dissertation about the interaction between EFL learners and English speakers, but I am still struggling with the specific thesis topic. There are a lot of key words and concepts flowing to my head. Interactionist perspective is of course one of them. Who are the keen theorists in the field? Where to start reading? Well, I think you should first specify the kind of interaction that may happen between EFL learners and English speakers, if any. When we talk about EFL context, there is no interaction between these two groups as such. Maybe a possible topic could be the effect of EFL learners' attitude toward English and its native speakers on their language learning. Or you could possibly compare the language proficiency of EFL learners who are in contact with native speakers on line and those who are not. Or if you are in an ESL context, you can compare the language features of learners who are in constant contact with English speakers and those who are not. Maybe fluency of those in contact with English speakers are higher than students who are not; however, the first group's accuracy is lagging behind the second group.
