Andrew Siu thank you for your input on my question. What is your opinion about online training in suicide prevention and mental health promotion, it is still a social stigma?
Dear Agar, your effort can be momentous and of great benefit to the age group of 15-25 years old (as identified by WHO to be in very high risk for suicide). This is the age they are still developing many aspects on their emotion, mental, physical, and spiritual, and grasping concepts such as life and death. I will not be surprised when one day areas such as mental health and suicide become a school standard curriculum - it's always hard to introduce new things at school level (just like we debated decades ago about introducing sexual education in school; but I sometimes wonder how new stuff like PCs got into schools so quickly even at pre-school level). Organisations who are playing big roles in their lives and influencing their thinking process such as FB can be more responsible and pro-active. I would think introducing these concepts (including psychache) at their growing age is good while they are still grasping with these concepts and finding ways to manage certain emotions which may be alien to them. It's like the adage, "we try to get them a good education and foundation when they are young". This kind of programme if implemented successfully and effectively, can help build strong foundation for these teenagers and early youths to prepare them to better cope with issues they face in adult lives. Best Wishes. [email protected]
