It seems that Merchantek no longer manufactures mills. Does anyone have suggested alternatives? Is the computer interface crucial, or can one mill samples "by hand"? Much appreciated!
There are a lot of manufacturers that manufacture precision machine tools among them I am using Kern Pyramid Nano which can be used for both micro-milling and micro-grinding.
Thank you Mohammadali. I am looking for something far less expensive and frankly less sophisticated than the Kern machine. The idea is to mill small samples of material from fish hard parts (otoliths, vertebrae, etc.), but I have to be able to recover the material that is milled from the structure - this is what we'll use for analysis.
See about Mikrotools DT110 machine. This machine is capable of doing more than 7 types of operations including micro-milling, micro-drilling, EDM , WEDM etc. However, cost of machine is on higher side.
