I am trying to do a FISH with pre-labelled DNA probes for Babesia and a few other apicomplexa detection. I am quite new to this and am trying to get a protocol to start with. So far the ones I have found are on blood or host tissue sections but none on ticks. Any help would be welcome.

I have done FISH on mosquito sections using Rhodamine-labelled probes in order to localise the presence of Wolbachia bacteria in mosquitoes. I have no experience with ticks, but I'm sure the protocol can be applied to ticks and Babesia. The protocol is described in Moreira et al., Cell 2009 (A Wolbachia symbiont in Aedes aegypti limits infection with Dengue, Chikungunya and Plasmodium". I hope this helps
