Hawaii's Natural Resource Managers and Conservation Biologists have struggled against the decimation of the diverse endemic snail fauna for decades, to a large degree due to direct predation by the intentional biocontrol release of Euglandina rosea, the so-called "Rosy Wolf Snail", native to Florida. We are experimenting with angled flashing as a mechanical accumulator and various molluscan baits and minnow traps. Baits work in the lab, but are water soluble so can't be left out in the rainy Hawaii forest environment. We've thought of embedding mollusc body fluid bait in wax, then soaking strings.
