Hi everybody, I've been asked about to implement the hardware appliance to monitor the ship motions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_motions. The appliance would then analyse the data and identifies the risks. What would be your approach to this problem: ODE system, Lagrange PDE, Black-box system identification any other?

The risks: losing stability under beam waves, losing stability with hull damage (depressurizing)
