I plan to perform an experiment where it is imperative to grow Arabidopsis in hydroponics for 25 days and then transfer to soil, searching the internet for information only results of gardening sites are displayed and while very informative these are related to peppers, cabbage even marijuana but nothing about Arabidopsis or a similar plant.
My concerns are that probably this transference may kill the plants, so i would like to know:
1) Are 25 days old Arabidopsis too old to survive the transfer?
2) Do i need a especial soil mix in order to do a successful transfer?
3) Is this kind of transfer previously performed/reported for Arabidopsis?

As the first author of the Plant Methods paper so kindly listed by Prof. Kawas, I can say we have had success in transferring Arabidopsis from Hydrophonics to Soil. No special soil is needed especially if plants are only in the vegetative stage, but would keep the soil moistened with whatever growth solution you have in hydroponics for a week or so, before switching to standard watering. There may be some minor dessication noticeable on the leaves in the first week, but the plants recover quickly, but if you are not doing PS or gas exchange measurements in that first week then it is not so problematic.
