I have an anti-Rab26 antibody from Synaptic Systems (269 011) but unfortunately it´s not very good in my hands. I get background and unspecific bands. I´d like to know that the next one I´ll buy works. It needs to react with mouse.
Dear Jolanta. I assume it has to be Rab-26? If Rab-27 is a possible target as well i found this antibody for you

pAbmAbs is a website where scientists can share information about antibodies they use in their research. Unfortunately nobody shared information about antibodies against rab-26, so i hope you will share the experience you obtained. This way, you can prevent others from buying the antibodies that does not work.
I do need an antibody specific for Rab26 so the one you suggest won´t work in this case. But I didn´t know about this web site so thank you for sharing. I´m sure I´ll find it useful now when I´ve discovered it.
Dear Jolanta. I am glad to hear that. It is also important to share information about antibodies that does not work-so that other people won't spend money on them as well, just to realize what you have already seen. I therefore hope you will share information about the antibodies you have tested that did not work.
There are 117 Rab26 antibodies across 21 suppliers, and we find 31 WB antibodies to mouse Rab26 across 11 suppliers. Still too many to make an easy choice. Aeonian Biotech can help finding you the right antibody without running the risk spending your budget on poor quality antibodies.
Hi Carsten and thank you for your willingness to help.
I´m a bit embarrased to admit that the antibody now seems to work. Before I´ve only used it after stripping the membrane one or two times and then I could not detect any clear bands but saw mainly background. Now I´ve used it on a fresh, unstripped membrane and I get clear bands at the correct molecular weight. This is great, however I don´t have much samples and often reuse my membranes. Hence it would be good for me if it also worked after stripping. What do you think might be the reason to why I cannot detect anything after the stripping?
There may be two reasons why the antibody does not work on stripped blots:
1. the stripping process was too harsh and removed or destroyed the antibody's binding site (epitope) of the protein, if not the entire protein, of interest
2. The membrane still contains detergents of the stripping process thus inactivating or preventing the antibody to bind to the protein of interest.
Perhaps in your case the first scenario applies, but it would be good practice to make sure the blot is thoroughly washed and re-blocked before applying the antibody. There are different stripping procedures out there and it might very well be that one antibody works best after one stripping method and another antibody works best after another method.
