We are looking for ways to work with teachers in being able to evaluate their use of Visual Phonics as an adjunct to literacy instruction. What are some procedures which have been used?
Thanks Harneet. We are looking to foster some performance based evidence research. We have begun with one teacher, but wonder what techniques may be helpful to encourage others to do this type of study.
Are you training them in visual phonics ? Are you using video recordings or will you be on-site observing? Are you looking for an observation protocol or do you already have one? I think I need more information to be able to offer any suggestions.
We have done the visual phonics training. We have also done a systematic review of the existing VP literature. There is much anecdotal evidence that VP helps some children develop sound/letter information more efficiently than just auditory-visual stimulation alone. What we would like to do is to encourage some practice-based evidence research. To do that we think forming, or encouraging the formation, of a PRN at some of the schools might foster that type of investigation. Our question is how to go about that formation.
