I am currently working on a project on tumble dryers specifically on the front door. It is about minimising energy consumption(due to air leakage) by using a coated material between the front sealing and the drum of a tumble dryer.
My goal is to find a coated material that can help preclude the air leakage between the front sealing and drum of a tumble dryer.
Why do you consider air leakage to be a problem? The tumble dryer works by blowing air through the contents and if a very small amount of the air comes via the seal, so what? It will help carry the water vapour away and could actually help drying.
Tony Maine ...Air Leakage can result to increase in energy consumption. My goal is to minimise energy consumption. Condenser and heat pump tumble dryers are considered to be closed systems. So we expect no form of air leakage from the system. Take a look at the attached document on condenser and heat pump tumble dryers.
Farhad Yazdi ....Thanks for your suggestion. Do you have any document on the use of silicone sealing grease on tumble dryers?
Thanks for the diagrams! Surely, the outer door seals against the drum container which is stationary, not the drum that rotates inside it, so there should be no problem. Why are you trying to seal against a rotating object? There seems no need to do this. And silicone grease would wear off very quickly and need replacing by the user, which is not desirable.
