I am working on a P&P survey about attitudes toward science and I would like to include some gender's stereotypes measurement. However, the straightforward tests are usually assisted by computers. There are some experiences applying paper & pencil IAT, but I would like to hear some hot knowledge about it. Does anyone have an experience applying P&P IAT? How did it work?
I tried it after reading Mahzarin Banaji's book "The Blind Spot". Pen and paper method did compromise on a lot of things. Firstly, IAT demands genuine, fast and reliable responses. Pen and paper gives people the slight space to make less errors or think before choosing (thats a serious issue) their answer.
We want them to make such genuine errors because that is what brings out the implicit association.
Secondly, administring a pen and paper task is slightly more tedious. If there are people around or other distractions.

When you have to press E and I quickly you start revealing your implicit associations!
Last is, its easier to correct an e-version of the survey than manually check the responses on the pen and paper IAT.
