Anyone working with the ERT forward modelling packages -RES2DMOD & RES3DMOD could please help me understand what is the format of the .mod input files for cross borehole measurements?
Thanks Richard, but I'm looking specifically at RES2DMOD & RES3DMOD which are the software I have available. geotomo.com doesn't have any reference to these 2 software. I have read papers where authors have created synthetic cross borehole models using them, so I know it is possible, but I have looked everywhere in tutorials, manuals and internet and there is not a single example of cross borehole synthetic data and I cannot figure out how the input file format should be for the cross boreholes, hence the question.
I remember seeing example data files in lokes tutorial notes. You have an option to specify x, y and z coordinates of each electrode. I will check what pages to look at tomorrow
There is a Matlab Package that you can follow for both forward and inverse electrical resistivity method (http://software.seg.org/) either surface or borehole acquisition. The package is described in the paper of Adam et. al., (Article RESINVM3D: A 3D resistivity inversion package
@Mohamed El-Behiry thanks for replying but if you are talking about the Tutorial : 2-D and 3-D electrical imaging surveys document in chapter 6 there isn't any explanation on how the synthetic cross-borehole data is created, which is what I'm interested in. The inversion of cross-borehole data is well explained but not the creation of synthetic cross-borehole data.
@Richard I Acworth there are cross borehole examples in manuals and tutorials for the inversion, but not for creating cross borehole synthetic models, at least I couldn't find any and I've been looking for a while. The input file formats are different for RES2DMOD and RES2DINV (extensions .mod and .dat respectively).
