Does anybody know of a device to measure hardness of polymers?
Depending on the polymer type (plastic, rubber, ...) you can use the following testers:
· Brinell hardness
· Bloom
· Knoop hardness
· Leeb rebound hardness
· Rockwell hardness
· Vickers hardness
Shore durometers work well too. They offer a good range.
Shore is typically used for polymers.
Brinell, Vickers, Rockwell and Knoop tests are mainly performed on metals.
Tank you very much
You can use shore durometers. They work well and are affordable.
Dear Abdalla
You can use vickers microhardness test
it is a common test for polymer hardness measurement
shore durometers are typically used for this purpose. here is an example in the following link;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QwFPfUq3I8
by using an Instron Universal Testing Machine (Model 5569),
The Rockwell hardness tester is generally used for polymers hardness testing.

For RUBBER shore A, IRHD
FOR PLASTIC SHORE D
for what types of polymers? Rubbers or plastics?
Shore A = Rubbers
Shore D= plastics
