I found several papers on metal intercalation into epitaxial graphene but none for CVD one. I know the roughness of CVD graphene can be an issue but I'm not sure if this is the main limitation for intercalation.
Yes, elements can intercalate into few layers (FLG) and multi layers (MLG) CVD graphene, however, it is hard to observe the staging phenomenon typically seen in HOPG due to the patchy nature of CVD graphene and non-uniform layers number.
