I tried to dissolve hydroxybenzoic acid and hydroxy benzophenone in lukewarm water, it didn't work. next, I tried in polar solution (methanol, ethyl alcohol, DMSO) together with ddl (2:10) it almost dissolved, fine. When I was preparing the working solution, I added ddl water to achieve the desired concentration, it again became crystals, I kept it in the water bath for a while and it dissolved.
My questions are
1) Is there any other solvent I can try with?
2) Does these solvents (methanol, ethyl alcohol, DMSO) or heating them a little before use to be dissolved will affect the potency of these chemicals? or these solvents can also cause a change in plant growth themselves?
Looking forward to solutions/suggestions.

In order to give you a qualified answer it would be helpful if you could specify which hydroxybenzoic acid you want to study. Please keep in mind that there are three isomers of hydroxybenzoic acid possible (ortho, meta, and para). To my knowledge all three have a rather low solubility in water (1-2 g / liter) but they are highly soluble in ethanol. I assume that the solubility in hot water will be higher. In contrast, hydroxybenzophenone is insoluble in water. It might perhaps be possible to use this compound as finely divided suspension in water.

Thank you very much for the kind response. I am using para hydroxybenzoic acid (p-HBA) and 2-4 dihydroxybenzoic acid. I dissolved it in 12.5% methanol and it worked well.
