Could you suggest sources available on the Internet on (estimated) demographic data in various regions of ancient Asia (India, China, Central Asia, Near East) etc?
If you are prepared to look as far as Turkey, the following references sent to me by Professor Brian Rose may be helpful:
"The Granicus River Valley Archaeological Survey Project, 2004-2005," Studia Troica 17 (2007). 65-150. Philipp von Zabern.
"The Tombs of the Granicus River Valley," in: The Achaemenid Impact on Local Populations and Cultures in Anatolia (6th-4th Centuries B.C.). Papers presented at the International Workshop, Istanbul 20-21 May 2005 (2007). O. Casabonne, I. Delemen, S. Karagoz, and O. Tekin (eds.); 247-264.
For more information on your subject, go to the DAI website (http://opac.dainst.org), click on Zenon (their bibliographic database), and then "Granicus" as a search word. That will give you the full bibliography.
