Although biodegradable material represents 70% of municipal waste in developing countries, I do not know of any city that runs separate collection and composting facilities. I am looking for a precedent to imitate.
Muangklang municipality in Thailand (190 km east of Bangkok) has initiated an integrated waste management system by incorporating source separation of organic waste followed by effective waste collection and transportation service, a waste sorting facility for recovery of recyclables, an anaerobic digestion facility, a composting facility and raising some farm animals etc. This is one of the successful integrated waste management systems that I have seen in developing countries. please check more information in the publication below.
