Storing commercial silicon solar panels in a controlled environment minimizes the stresses on the solar panel materials and keeps the the panel in a preserved constant state. So, theoretically, there will be no measurable changes in the performance of the panel even on long term. I have panels only stored in the laboratory for more than 15 years, there is no remarkable changes in their appearance or their characteristics.
Thanks Mr. Shams for your reply. You have mentioned about commercial silicon solar panels. Do you have any idea regarding storage of space grade solar panels
Concerning the space grade solar panels, they are assumed to withstand harder environmental conditions and more severe thermal stresses. Consequently storing them under constant environmental condition will not affect their performance as explained before. It is assumed that the space cells are more reliable than the terrestrial solar cells. However i have no experimental observations on such cells.
