Currently, sustainability is an objective for any economic activity or development process. The level of sustainability of farming systems should be estimated taking into account not only economic and environmental aspects, but also social ones.

A public/private benefits framework for the design of polices oriented to sustainability in agriculture: The case of olive growing. Land Use Policy. Vol. 58. pp: 54 - 69) contribute to the theory and practice of sustainability and welfare-optimizing management and policy by developing an integrated methodological framework for the design of public polices promoting sustainable farming techniques based on private/public net benefits. The framework, specified for this case of olive growing in Andalusia, Spain, combining multi-criteria Analytic Network Process modelling of the multiple functions of olive growing with an economic analysis and a public/private benefits framework for cost-effective policy design.

Thank you for your reply! However it seems that getting trained in operating RISE and getting a software license is quite an expensive affair! Is there a possibility to use the method otherwise, for academic/research purposes in developing countries?
