Water transfer infrastructures have been widely used for water management since the times of the earliest civilizations. These projects have a huge impact in hydrological, ecological, and water management terms.
I was wondering if anyone collected and organized in a systematic way the technical characteristics of the existing and planned water transfer infrastructures, at least for the main inter-basin ones.
I am thinking of something similar to what the Global Water System Project (GWSP) did for dams and reservoirs in the Global Reservoir and Dam (GRanD) Database.

Hello. Fabio. There are a lot of such realized projects in the world. Even in Ukraine we have some inter-basin projects: Dnieper - Donbass, Dnieper - Indulets, Dnieper - Crimea (now bloccked by Ukraine), Bug - Dnieper and others. It is interesting, that even the rejected enormous project "Siberian Rivers - into Central Asia" did not "die" dispite the Soviet Union disintegration. States of Central Asia need in Siberian water. However, I don't now any system collection of such projects. It would be useful to create a such collection. Best regards, Vladimir Starodubtsev, Professor of NULES of Ukraine.

Thanks for your input, This is indeed an interesting topic that could be useful for the whole water resource management and surface hydrology related studies at regional and global scales.
