There are two Charles Robert Darwin; the former wrote “On the Origin of Species” (John Murray, London, UK, 1859, 502 p.) and the latter wrote: "Often a cold shudder has run through me, and I have asked myself whether I may have not devoted myself to a fantasy." (Charles Darwin, Life and Letters, 2 (1887) 229) and "The number of intermediate varieties, which have formerly existed must be truly enormous. Why then is not every geological formation and every stratum full of such intermediate links? Geology assuredly does not reveal any such finely graduated organic chain; and this, perhaps is the most obvious and serious objection which can be urged against the theory." (Darwin, Charles, Origin of Species, 6th edition, 1902, 341-342).
My question can be rephrased as follows: “Who of these two Darwins is nearer to the truth?”.
