It is a common complain against the students of present generation that they always live in virtual world, can not concentrate in studies to achieve deep knowledge etc.
Do you think by compulsory use of mobile jammers in the educational institutions where internet connection is not required as a part of study and wire telephonic connection is possible, the condition may be changed?
Or, there may be some other effects?

A problem it's impossible to fight but getting on war with all adolescents, which a very stupid idea. Whereas problems can't be solved, they should be used and profit to teach them the correct use of Google Search and how something they love can be profitable to their studies. Specially in small aparted locations, such as in my island, with no teacher choice available. Student would happily learn responsibility. Give them the opportunity to build their own study plan, with new technologies. But, of course, connection must be restricted to educational sites, it would give them the opportunity to find the electronic way to jerk it off.
It is a means of communication that makes us in full contact with the world via the Internet, but the known problem to students that they do not have the culture and full awareness of the need for this method, making it more negative impact in the development of the scientific and social level of students.
I also do not believe that mobile jammers in the educational institutions will help the students more practical with deeper knowledge.

No , jamming signals will cause a sever anxiety to teenagers !!!! I think , they should be taught to refrain and blocking might have negative impacts like they might stealthily try using it . No Dr Pattanayak , we need to teach them to trust the system that works for them , as I said when I work with kids they hardly touch their phones .
Students must be cultured on the positive uses and negative uses of mobile devices. The truth is that mobile phones as technological devices can elicit more learning outcomes. In our project, we assessing how instructors can carefully monitor the use of mobile phones and heighten the ethics in its use to maximize learning outcomes.
In my opinion, mobile may be allowed for urgency and also necessity. However, during classes, mobiles may be switched off/ silence mode. Students may learn about some topic by using mobile during free time.

My time in the college, there weren't mobile phones. That time microelectronics was developed at a very fast pace and professors requested at the exams the knowledge of the original courses they taught. All students were busy to understand the essence of the lecture, and to write during the lectures their conspectus to be able to repeat it later on to pass the exams. During the seminar hours professor's assistances couched students to solve problems in a strict sequence and compliance with the lecture materials.
Therefore, the value of conspectuses had been quite high. Certainly, there were students, who were trying to re-write conspectuses from the friends - usually it was not sufficiently helpful as everybody had one's own style to write notes after a lecturer. Hence, it was quite cryptic to understand it. This type education could be excluding cell phones usage in a natural way. Moreover, the cultural atmosphere was such that anybody or whatever that could interrupt a professor or deflect students attention from the lecture would be considered as a major misstep leading to unpleasant consequences.
Those years are long gone - today's mobile devices are magnificent helpers in communications and numerous applications fascinating all ages. The culture is also changed to accommodate personal urgent communications at the expense of neglecting anything happening around - it infuriated managers, professors, friends, families, and many others. However, it has happened. There are no universal rules as to how to adapt a more decent behavior. May time will somewhat correct it. During some original shows, concerts, presentations, etc. - the administrations used to require spectators to turn off the phones.
In today's world taking away something after giving a taste of it will not be liked by one and all. The advent of this kind of technology had happened. The need now is to help them understand when to use or not to use. The technology doing the bidding of the human being/students is required rather than humans becoming a slave of technology.
As most have said already, jamming generally just leads to more trouble. The times have changed. Students will never be as "disconnected" or focused as we feel like we were in school. It is up to us to embrace the new technology and incorporate it into the classroom to enhance, not hinder, the learning process.
In my own classroom, I have to keep my phone for emergency purposes (particularly regarding my child in school) so I feel it's unfair to forbid my students from having phones (especially when several of them have the same situation). And I tell them that too.

Whenever you try to hide/takeaway information,natural Instincts from people, they find another route (mostly dangerous) to curb those desires, and unfortunately mobiles have become an instinctive desire. Rather than jamming or blocking, try to channel their energies into healthier outdoor activities while keeping all the options open. They will learn eventually

Students of today are using mobile phones in a more user-friendly way as complementary to their regular classroom or other personal and social activities. Even during taking notes, recording voices, capturing snaps or recording observation/ experimetal data on or off the lab.....mobile is absolutely essential.
Mobile jammer is a device that emit radiofrequency radiation which causes biological effects on human health and nervous systems.
Moreover if mobile jammer is used in educational institutes, it may invite many other problems. A quick call to the police, ambulance, or fire department.....during emergency ....will not be possible. Mobile phone jammers take away the opportunity of the parents to call or take calls related to their wards.
So.....it is better to go with technology....welcome mobile phones with true spirit........but certainly with imposition of required "Do's and Do not's".
Surely it will be of some benefit, but it can not be considered a final solution to the problem

I do not think so, personaly I do not recommend using mobile during working hour. there is a different between active learning and E learning. active learning make student think, read, understand, analyze and create by using videos, photo deliverning quistions. but E learning using a smart devise is useful after wirking hour
I think such an experience is not without benefit. Using such devices in institutions is a good idea and makes the student focus on one direction is knowledge
I am of the personal opinion that curbing is never going to work. On the contrary, it is most likely going to motivate students towards finding out ways to circumvent the same.
Self-discipline is the way and the teachers/administrators are expected to find out ways to achieve this.
There's lot taught and absolutely unnecessary you can be sure it won't ever be needed in your lifetime. In change, an intelligent use of the Internet, a science for keywords, the ability to search should be develop as teaching material to give students better chances for the future and not letting the "do-it-yourself" install itself. The problem is, on that chapter, many students are better than profs. But this can be solved through the mentoring system: let them share what they know and let the teachers learn from their students.
Some core lectures of a major usually turn out to be boring, true. But I won't put all the blame on teachers to make the *Act* interesting for the students. The new generation is too much involved in mobiles and internet. So what I usually do is try to make them use the information that they have readily available, to a positive use. I am pretty sure that if most of organic chemistry complexes were given as a video game to the students, each and everyone will be playing it on their sets.
