I tried to synthesis graphene by the hydrothermal method. The catalyst was changed. I took photos of products (below images. Particles in Image 2 are teeny fraction same image 1. Sample 1 being colorless after a few hours.). What do you think about these pictures? Do you think these pictures can be described as graphene or carbon dots or both? Is it possible that sheets in images be a big size of graphene?
I will guarantee you that the flakes in your vials are not big sheets of graphene - if it is, that would be quite a finding. They may be big aggregates of graphene or mixtures of your catalyst and different carbon allotropes, depending on what your procedure is. Do you have access to a TEM? If you just put a few drops of a dilute solution on a copper grid you should have your answer. Raman spectroscopy, UV-vis, AFM, and XRD should also allow your differentiate between your materials. Your picture on the bottom left looks more like reduced graphene oxide, which can be stable in water depending on the functional group density. The darker image on the right looks more like graphene, but it wouldn't be stable in that case. Could it be graphite? I still don't think that will be too stable in water.

Thank you White. My procedure isn't graphite or other carbon allotropes, but I don't know that product can be which allotrope! I didn't get a TEM. Picture on the bottom left containing black sediment, and right image is quite stable and synthesized ago 10 days.
you must need to carry out the TEM analysis....it is not possible at any cost to say anything about graphene of carbon quantum dots.
I am agree with Mr. White. Another one thing, you can't get CQDs by following this reduction procedure that may be Graphene quantum dots (GQDs). If you have some doubt then put the sample for mild centrifugation and collect the supernatant. Take the UV-Visible spectrum of the supernatant and collect its photo luminescence emission data. This observation will tell you whether the GQDs are formed or not. Yes, you may go for TEM and HRTEM analysis to know the particle size which will conform regarding the average size of the particles.
what was the size of filter? which part did you take; upper or lower? write the details then i will tell exactly.
thank you all. i don't filter it yet because i haven't membrane filter(!!) i want take xrd upper flakes and fluorescence too and will tell you next week.
