This question came to mind at a younger age when I thought " could there ever be an application on smartphones which when turned on, emits some sort of anti-gravitational waves from the screen of the phone to a measure height such that any object within the radius of the anti-gravitational waves will float. Also when turned on will detect when a smartphone is falling and gently lands the phone rather than crashing it?
It seem impossible or very difficulties, what is the faster reaction and what is the velocity of collesision and the velocity of detecting that will be happen can you get a positioned accuracy in milimeter.
Making a detection system using ultrasonics or radar that would operate that fast and with that accuracy would be no problem. Antigravity would be the big problem as no-one has any idea how to do that. But jets of air or airbags could be deployed to get a soft landing, or to deflect an object falling towards the screen.
It is impossible to make application a detection gravity-defying
on smartphones. But can get a soft landing in different methods

The point of designing a smartphone is to make the glass break in peaces, so you pay another $1000 for the new smartphone and a bunch of protective glasses and cases for another $100-200.

No, I am skeptical. You see, companies like Apple are very dumb, the iphone is a very dumb iphone with very dumb Machine Learning algorithms.
Hopefully they have smarter tools in other areas.

Smart mobile phones are really clever technology that would have been unbelievable 50 years ago. People don't appreciate just how much leading edge engineering, chemistry, maths and physics and software goes into getting them to work well nearly all the time. The services we get from them are astounding, and especially for someone who grew up in a world without them - or the internet.

Yes, I know it has some very smart features, but I can't help but focus on the downsides, weaknesses and dumb things that the iphone has.
As an advanced long time user of the iphone and other apps Apple has (iTunes), I can say without chance for error that I hate Apple.

mobiles were smart, and sometimes much more useful than "smatrphones" before those appeared.
The embedded soft was a level higher (at least on non-Nokia mobiles... Nokia, the pusher of smartphones, died without ever fixing its contact book and incoming calls recognition), and the user-installed soft could work with JAVA. In the end of 2000s cheaper ram slowly allowed using full-size browsers...
But the smartphone thing which was aggressively pushed to market, allowed incorporating more expensive hardware with less effort, and selling it at higher price. I.e. the economic capacitance of the smartphone market is much higher than of regular mobiles. And still most people never install more functions than were available on javaphones, while such important functions as fax, or answering machine (not the voicemail, hackable and double-charged) virtually absent on smartphones. Even quick buttons, like conversation record, or immediate flashlight are banned from smartphones.
So there is nothing smart in them.
The "smartest" feature that smartphones allow is forcefully phasing them out by installing a horde of "recommended updates" on the slow and limited aux. nand-partition. The full control over the life cycle, with the customer unable to refuse.
Antigrav tech is really not needed here.
In the communication market, smart are not smartphones, but the businesses, like Apple, or Google, who managed to push the overpriced not so useful thing without any alternative. Magnificent work towards the monopoly and control over the market and society.
