The internet as a research tool has rather broadened the repertoire of informational resources needed in producing quality and original scientific researches. It is the giver of a zillion of information to help create new ideas from existing ones； a prompter and a faithful security guiding against repetitive researches； a swift circulator of research findings for their effects to be felt and properly utilize in the numerous socieities globally.

Introduction of Internet has become the addiction for student to more businessmen to the level of intellectual & scientific researcher . Internet has help the researcher to carry out his program in more convenient & fast way but at the same time due to the depended on the internet the researcher has lost the credit of his mind & remain depended on Internet .

The Internet has a great role in developing the ability to search for various information, as the Internet has facilitated the search process that follows the writing of scientific research.

Think Internet has its strengths & weaknesses in many fronts. Generally speaking, Internet brings more benefits or has helped scientific research e.g. speed up literature review, ease of accessing needed journal articles, ease of getting latest information / artifacts, provide research platform like RG for knowledge sharing, research collaboration via virtual confcall / video conferencing, virtual presentation / lectures, thesis viva exam via Skype etc. Personally I find that Internet is just an enabler to enhance today's researchers how best they can conduct research, success of any research also depending on other non-Internet factors like innovative / creative thinking, passion, perseverance, determination etc.

I think it has helped scientific research, in terms of the speed with which one can acquire information. But I don't think it builds research skills, which is why students don't necessarily write or analyze better even though they have a wealth of information at their fingertips.
Internet has been very important to shape the world aa we know it today. We have access to data never thought before. Having a 1200 page book was hard to find what we wanted. Today we search, copy the material for citation etc and yet we mau access to the authors of the texts.

In general, a researcher needs many resources at his/her disposal. I believe the internet and social media play a significant role in the development of scientific borders. However, mere reliance on the internet without increasing the level of their knowing , researchers are prone to superficiality missing the deeper side of the undertaking which is growing because of the fluid nature of evolving paradigms influencing scientific domains. Therefore, it can be stated that the internet is necessary but not sufficient for catering to the needs of the researchers.

Yes, I think it help the researchers to get knowledge from other scientists and to express his/her research outcome to others.
But like all other great discoveries, it can also be used in bad purposes. In the field of scientific research, the copy paste research and the copy paste article publication is such a dark side.
But for that type of activity, internet can not be blamed, the concerned persons may be blamed or punished.
The Internet eases of communication to the researchers; because it serves as a guidance and original source of information. It is very easy to access and at the same time saves time thereby allowing an individual to manager his/her resources better and effectively. Additionally, the Internet is very convenient because an individual can easily carry out a research work at home with much comfort and convenience. The internet is a valuable search tool and has been informative for academic research, as it helps significantly to improve research skills, and makes learning visual and easy to follow.

Possible limits to the intellectual abilities of researchers are to be found in the researchers themselves (who can not be defined as such).

The internet has enabled more plagiarism, but also, it is much easier to check for plagiarism.

All depends on the quality of websites providing scientific knowledge. In an other side internet killed books.
There is no reason to think that the internet has limited the abilities of researchers in any way. One must examine the "population" studied in any studies of the internet limiting abilities.
One example, the provision of word games, logical games, etc., for individuals with memory problems help these individuals. You need long-term studies of researchers before one can draw any conclusions about benefit and risk to researchers.

It might have promoted laziness in that you can find things without doing much but it has promoted research through making almost all body of information that is available more accessible to researchers

Indeed the internet has become a fundamental and valuable tool to perform extended bibliographic research on any field of science.
To me, as a medical researcher, I wouldn't think of presenting the results of my research, without previous thorough evaluation of Pubmed articles. Most often, we get amazed at the similarity of ideas, in modern scientific endeavours. (This would also prevent unnecessary claims for "plagiarism", when we think our ideas and methods are original, but we come to a point where so many others are silently researching through the same paths !)
On the other hand, (and RG is here to proove this), we should value the fact that the internet brings us together, from distant geografic lands, to join hands in our common language, to exchange views, and also to build new ties that permit us to work in collaboration.
I have done so, in different occasions and with different distant colleagues, to produce good original work that gains from our diversity of thoughts and methods.
This singular new approach to science clearly demonstrates that, instead of limiting our intellectual capacities, the internet can enhance the end-product of our abilities, when bringing to collaboration distant international individuals.
I am very thankful to the internet. I only wish that it could somehow return to its original form of totally free interchange, instead of the modern concept of economic gaining ...

The Internet is a mercy for researchers and science students, certainly for every area of negativity and positive, limited thought is for those who are well with or without the Internet
Internet made every thing easy for human being. I'm still wondering what the field of research should have been without Internet.
Internet helped very much in developing researches quality through exchange information with colleagues in a similar topics ,and through webs published any thing related with what we wish to know.
Internet gives answers in a few minutes. You may find supporting material for any problem. Clever people spend less time to solve their problems. On the other hand, Internet has created the impression that , in the millions of published papers, anyone can steal the idea of anybody else and present it as his own without even mentioning the original source.
Obviously, Internet helped and still helping. Imagine the flexibility, accessibility to information, visibility, communication, distribution, Networking etc.
What about the Speed and ease of processing and getting a lot done?
