In 2013 we are able to perform a lot of very sophisticated procedures in oncologic surgery/therapy. We have a lot of different therapeutic agents from chemotherapy to biologicals. In oncologic surgery we have expanded multimodal treatment and we are able to provide very invasive procedures for patients we did not think about 20 years ago.

But nevertheless our rates of "cure" of cancer are low. We treat many patients in "curative" intent, knowing that this will be true only for a vast minority. Considering these facts we have a lot of over-treatment.

Do you think we have lost our ethical view towards patients?
