I am conducting research for my doctoral dissertation on the effectiveness of the US federal government's National Strategy for Financial Literacy of 2006-2020 at improving Americans' financial literacy and well-being. My dissertation relies on secondary research methodology, primarily from political science/public policy. My academic background is in American Studies, so my research deals with the National Strategy as a US politics project, although I refer to previous research on financial education effectiveness in economics and other fields of study.
This sounds like an interesting topic. What kind of secondary research methodology are you using? For example, is it unstructured or is it more systematic with a specific set of search terms and databases?
Also, how are you measuring the effectiveness of the strategy?

I consider my project a political science/public policy one. Therefore, I plan to use methods primarily from those fields of study to measure the effectiveness of the strategy.

You are likely on to next steps, but I would recommend determining which type of literature review you want to do, because there are multiple approaches you can use. Three types you may want to explore are unstructured reviews (like a typical essay with no particular system for identifying which sources to include), a systematic literature review (having specific search terms, looking at specific databases, and evaluating trends in aggregate, perhaps with statistics), and a scoping review (a sort of precursor to a systematic review that is more exploratory and descriptive).
