Ever since I was a child, I have watched movies traveling to the past with great interest and I would say "with great passion." However, when I think of trying to achieve this extraordinary idea from a scientific point of view, many contradictions arise, which seem to be insurmountable. Which kind of suitable machine could do that? What movie or TV show makes you feel the most that the idea can be achievable and why? I invite you to the discussion.
For what I know, the only available machine able to travel back in time is our own brain. Imagination...
We carry our present with us, so to speak. Conceivably we could view our past with ourselves in it (in the way we view ancient stellar events when we look at the night sky) if we could find a way to perceptually access the light that emanated from those past events. That would be tantamount to intercepting signals of TV shows that were broadcast long ago. But we wouldn't be able to participate again in those very same events or change them in any way; they are no longer part of our present. At best, we might get "read-only" access.
